Customer Description

Building for the Future

The Regions Hospital expansion and renovation project is designed to meet the growing and highest-priority health care needs of the region, including critical community health issues such as inpatient mental health and emergency medical services. In addition, the planned $179 million project will provide a higher percentage of private patient rooms and improved way finding and flow inside and outside the campus. Patient safety, efficiency, and cost-conscious design are key principles integrated throughout the design of the project. Construction began in January 2007 and is expected to be complete in 2009.

Project Summary

The Regions Hospital expansion project will consist of ten floors. Each floor will have horizontal voice, data and wireless access points put into its infrastructure, which will be serviced by a telecommunications room fed from the new Alternate Point Of Presence (APOP) on the first floor of the addition. Each telecommunications room will receive 100 pair of Category 3 and 12 strands of 50 micron 10 gig laser optimized fiber and 12 strands of single mode fiber optic cables.

ABcom will be installing over 4000 cables with the latest technology of Category 6 to all workstations in preparation for VoIP (Voice over IP). We will be working closely with other contractors with 3D CAD in order to have seamless
coordination and timing on this extensive project.
